Boys Cross-Country

Throughout the years, Valley Lutheran High School boys cross-country has produced some fine teams and individuals, many of whom have earned all-state honors. In 1996, the VLHS boys cross-country team placed third at the state meet – just 18 points from winning the state title. Cross-country in the state of Michigan is a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) run. A school may run seven runners in a varsity race, and the top five runners’ places make up the team score. The lowest score of the top five runners wins the meet. Cross-country courses may be set up on golf courses, parks or school grounds. Around here, most of the courses are pretty flat.
