Attention Students:

  • Seniors – new scholarships have been added to the list from the VLHS Foundation, Saginaw County Medical Society and Saginaw NW Kiwanis Club among others. Check them out at bit.ly/VLScholarships as deadlines are fast-approaching!
  • Latté Start Tuesdays! BOGO and 25% off food at either Saginaw BIGGBY Locations. Every Tuesday during the school year, beginning April 2nd, all Valley students, faculty, and staff get Buy One Get One drinks and 25% off food, simply show your Valley ID and receive the discount. Thanks BIGGBY! Disclaimer: this is NOT an acceptable reason to be late for school on Tuesdays… 🙂
  • For your advance planning, state testing will take place on Tuesday, April 9th for freshmen – juniors. Freshmen and sophomores take the PSAT and are done around noon. Juniors take the SAT and are done around 1 pm. Students are excused after their testing. Seniors do not need to report on April 9th. Junior testing then continues on April 10th in the morning and April 12th in the afternoon, during the school day. Juniors will get more information immediately following spring break.
  • All Juniors will need to report to school before 8am on Tuesday, April 2nd, to complete pre-administration items for their SAT.
  • Protect Life will be hosting a Diaper Drive for two weeks after spring break to benefit Beacon of Hope Pregnancy Center. We need diapers, baby socks, diaper cream, wipes, onesies (up to 2T), stamps and/or office supplies. Shop for the babies over break!
  • Calling all writers! Submissions for our literary competition are due by Friday, May 3rd. Students may enter up to two pieces in either the poetry or prose category. Prose would include short-stories, non-fiction, drama, etc.). Winners are announced at our spring awards assembly and receive a $50 gift card of their choice. Winning submissions (and other representative pieces) may be published in our online newsletters. Consider putting something together over spring break. See your English teacher or the posted flyers for more information.

  • SVSU is pleased to invite rising high school students to apply for the AT&T Great Lakes Bay Region STEM Innovation and Entrepreneurship High School Camp. The camp dates are June 24th – 28th, and will provide additional STEM education information, career awareness, exposure to engineering activities (robotics, 3D printing), and an introduction to entrepreneurship, STEM technology innovations, design innovations, prototype development, and product testing. There is NO COST to attend this camp; however full attendance is expected. Applications are being accepted until May 1st and will be reviewed on a rolling basis after this date.   • The SVSU Regional Mathematics and Science Center is offering three (3) FREE high school STEM camps this summer. STEM Scholar Network Summer 2019 High School Camps (9th-12th grade). Health and Human Services STEM Camp, UX Design (App Design for Your Smartphone), Coding and Networking STEM Camp. Applications will be accepted until May 31, 2019, or when spaces are full (whichever comes first). There are limited seats available in each camp, so send your completed registration packet in as soon as possible! For more information, please contact our office at (989)964-4114. Attention Parents:

  • REMINDER: All current students received a Re-registration with course selections on March 11th. Please review, sign, and return the Re-registration with course selections to the office. The $100 re-registration fee is waived if returned to the office by April 8. The Church Membership Verification & Professional Church Worker Status will be need to be completed on the front page as well (if qualified).
  • Applications for financial aid are to be submitted online to FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment for processing and evaluation. There is a $30 processing fee. Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2019, for full consideration. Applications submitted after April 1 will be considered, as funds are available, with a minimum late penalty reduction of 10% of the recommended grant. Families will be informed of grants by mail in early July. If you have questions, please call our office at (989) 790-1676.

  • Michigan Technological University Summer Youth Programs office is again partnering with Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC) to offer scholarships for students from Valley Lutheran High School to attend an engineering summer camp – for free. The scholarship will cover all costs (including transportation) required to attend the Engineering Scholars Program (ESP) at Michigan Tech. A total of 30 students from Midland/Bay/Saginaw counties will be selected for the HSC award. The application deadline is 5:00pm April 10, 2019.
