  • Radium Girls spring play runs Thursday-Saturday 7pm. Tickets available in the office!
  • Anyone interested in running for Student Council Executive Board should see Mrs. Schwarz to pick up a petition this week. These are NOT class officer petitions. To run for executive board, you must be a junior or senior next year and have been a member of student council in some capacity for at least one year.
  • Looking for a Mother’s Day gift? Gift cards to Abele Greenhouse are for sale in the office for $20. They are only available until May 6. See Mrs. Kelsey or Mrs. Miller to purchase!
  • Attention Juniors! Two Valley students have the opportunity to attend Rotary’s leadership development camp June 16-20th. The costs for this great leadership development opportunity are generously covered by two local Rotary Clubs… that’s right, there is no cost to you! Please see, Mrs. Mueller for more information or to get an application.
  • Reminder: submissions for our literary competition are due TODAY.
  • There will be a Key Club meeting Tuesday, May 7th in the Band Room at 8am.
  • The baseball team has two exciting nights coming up. On Friday 5/10 the JV and Varsity teams will take on the Coleman Comets at Dow Diamond with the JV starting at 5 pm and Varsity follows at 7 pm. The cost is $5 per ticket and are on sale in the school office. On 5/13 the Varsity team will be playing Lutheran North at the “Lutheran Night at Jimmy John’s”. This event is free and will take place at Jimmy Johns Stadium in Utica. Valley plays Lutheran North at 4:30 pm and Lutheran Northwest plays Lutheran Westland at 7 pm.
  • The Midland Educational Service Agency has 6 Summer Career Camps available to students this year. Ag-mazing Adventures Agriscience Camp, What’s on the Menu Culinary Camp, Square One Skilled Trades Camp, Decoding Technology IT Camp, Scrub Life Healthcare Camp, and Advanced Scrub Life – Continuation of Scrub Life. For more information, please contact Kristen Sanborn at ksanborn@midlandesa.org or 989-631-5892 Ext. 115. NOTE: A limited number of scholarships are available for those who need assistance and will be awarded at the discretion of the Midland County ESA. Applications will only be accepted until May 17th 2019.
  • Have you heard of Camp Restore? Our program helps bring hope to inner cities by cleaning up blight, building homes, and serving the children in ministry. Camp Restore will provide your team with opportunities to restore hope with the residents of Detroit through vacation bible school July 21-25, 2019. Approx cost, including lodging and food, is $200, and fundraising options are available. We need group leaders and station leaders to help about 100 kids, and evenings are open for experiencing Detroit.   • The VLHS Parent Organization is excited to be partnering with Abele’s Greenhouse for a Spring flower sale on Friday, May 17 from 2:30-5pm, and Saturday, May 18, from 9am-noon (or until flowers are gone.). Each 10” basket will be sold for $25 each, or 3 for $70 (cash & carry). We will also be offering a $20 fundraising card, with an expiration date of June 15th. Fundraising cards and pre-order deadline is Monday, May 6th via Sign Up Genius or through the VLHS office, and the baskets can be picked up during the sale.
