Chapel – 5/4/20

Good Morning, Chargers!  Here is a chapel message from Pastor Stahl that was adapted from a devotion on the Wellspring website:

Scripture

“But seek first His kingdom, and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” — Matthew 6:33

Insight

Wait? What? This is the middle of a worldwide pandemic, and you want me to what? Seek God first? Think about the eternal — when I’m not even sure what today brings? Focus on God’s righteousness when there doesn’t seem to be any around me? Well, if we listen to these words of Jesus, that come right after He also admonishes us with “do not worry…,” then the answer to all that, and then some, is YES! That’s exactly what God wants of us: to focus on Him, His provision, His strength, His love, His care for all His people. And when we do, He grants us all kinds of blessings — even when we don’t deserve them or ask for them.

Prayer

HEAVENLY FATHER, we can hardly think about tomorrow in all the stress and mess of today. It’s hard for us to focus on anything right now through the scary lens of this pandemic. And yet, you remind us — invite us — to seek You first in all this. And when we do, you’ll take care of us — as you always do. We know that when we seek you first, we’re more grounded, more settled and even more available to serve You by serving others. So, we commit to seeking You first in all this, trusting in your promises and your great and endless love for your people. AMEN.
