Valley Lutheran High School is excited to have received a $15,000 grant from the Saginaw Community Foundation (SCF) for the school’s GROWING Campaign.

“We are thankful to have received this grant from the Community Foundation. Not only will this help us take another step toward better serving our students, but it is confirmation of the strength and importance of community,” said Valley Lutheran Executive Director Dr. John Brandt. “We have long recognized the value of our community in the success of our school.”

Fundraising began in late 2015 for the $10 million campaign, which includes a $6.5 million building addition that will modernize the school’s STEM capabilities by adding four new science labs, in addition to new music and art rooms, a new special needs room, a new weight room, new and remodeled locker rooms, common areas and a new main entrance with security improvements. The SCF’s grant was specifically given toward the building portion of Valley’s campaign.

Co-Chairs of Valley Lutheran’s effort are Dr. and Mrs. Dwight McNally and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Pickelman. Both couples expressed their thanks for the grant and the strong support that has been received from throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. “For forty years, Valley Lutheran has diligently produced young men and women who go out into the world and make a positive impact,” Dr. McNally said. “We are thrilled that the Saginaw Community Foundation recognizes the value of this project to our community.”

Valley broke ground on the project in mid-September and construction is scheduled to be completed by Christmas of 2019.
