Attention Students:

  • Senior Retreat permission slips and payment due tomorrow, September 21st.
  • This Saturday will be the annual Valley Lutheran Grade School Volleyball Tournament. We are in need of some volunteers to help with the tournament, in particular Ticket Sellers. There are two different shifts available. This is a great way to add service hours. Please sign up in the main office.
  • The France Mission Team will be selling cake pops in the cafeteria during lunch hours on Tuesday, Sept. 25th and Thursday, Sept. 27th. The cake pops are $2.00 each. There will be two flavors available, vanilla and chocolate. To celebrate Homecoming week they will be decorated in blue and gold. Show your school spirit while supporting the France Mission Team.   • Seniors - you and your parents should plan to attend this year's Financial Aid Night on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:00pm in the RC. We will be covering the FAFSA, local scholarships, and other important college financial items that need your attention this year. This is a night you don't want to miss.
  • Looking for a junior or senior to do some math tutoring after school for an 8th grader in pre-Algebra. If interested, please give your name and contact number to Mrs. Miller in the office. See Dr. Meyers for more information.
  • Protect Life bake sale tomorrow during lunch hours.
  • September 23rd at 2:00pm the kickoff to the 40 Days for Life vigil will be happening. Please join us! Questions, ask Mrs. Winter, Abby Brown, or Chloe Haynes.
  • The Parent Organization would greatly appreciate your effort and need your help in selling Entertainment Books. Please be sure to let your parents know and they could possibly bring to work, church, neighbors, etc. This year's project includes a new chrome book cart and 30 new chrome books. Remember for every 4 books sold and/or 10 emails sent out, you get to pick out a candy prize with cash attached. More books are available in the office. If you aren't going to try to sell, please turn in your book so others can. Thank you for your efforts!
  • Students currently taking an AP course - AP exam fees are due to the office by October 15. Cost is $94 per exam, with checks payable to VLHS. Students wishing to take AP exams for subjects other than our current AP courses can register for those exams in the spring.
  • If anyone is interested in volunteering at STEM Day at the Saginaw Children’s Museum on Saturday, September 22, please see Mr. Cooper for more information. There will be free pop & pizza!
  • Do you LOVE life? Are you ready to MARCH for Life? Join your fellow students and thousands and thousands more this coming January 18th in Washington D.C. as we march through the streets of our nation's capital and offer our voices in support of the voiceless. Parents and other adults are also welcome! A $25 deposit needs to be given to Mrs. Urbytes or Mrs. Winter by Friday, October 5th to reserve your spot on the bus. Space is limited, so reservations will be on a first come, first served basis. Please see Mrs. Winter and Mrs. Urbytes for more information.
  • Applications for the 2019 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are available at spirit.prudential.com and naaspp.org/spirit Completed applications are due to the office no later than November 6, 2018. Top state-level honorees, announced in February, earn awards including $1,000 and an all-expense paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, DC for the annual national recognition events.

  • We are holding a used mattress collection for the Franklin Street Mission in Flint. Bring used mattresses to Valley Lutheran September 24th & 25th between 7:30am-4:00pm, and by 8 a.m. on September 26th. Your old bed can be someone’s only bed. Please no bed bugs!
  • Our School Store is looking for a friendly volunteer from 2:45-3:30pm Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. This is a great way to get to know the kids and support Booster club! If you’d be willing to help, please contact our office.
  • Students Willing to Work for Help With France Mission Trip! This July, a team of students and chaperones will travel to Brittany, France to serve at Parole de Vie's Christian summer camp for teens. The students are willing to do leaf raking, yard work, babysit, return pop cans, and help with other odd jobs to help fund their trip.   • Beaumont Hospital out of Royal Oak and the Live Like Max Foundation will bring free heart screenings to the Saginaw area and give back to the community that supports us. Screenings will take place at Heritage High School on September 22nd from 9am to 1pm and is for all high school students (they do not need to be in sports to take part in the screening).
