More than 900 people filled The Temple Theatre for Valley Lutheran High School’s special Christmas worship concert on Sunday, December 10.
The concert, normally held at a local Lutheran church, was moved this year because of Valley’s 40th anniversary.
The Golden Voice choir and Symphonic Band performed, and Alumni who were active in the music department took part in a combined finale and served as readers at the event.
A free-will offering was gathered and Development Director announced that $2,436 (half of the collection) would be donated to the City Rescue Mission of Saginaw. The remainder will support the music department at Valley.
Dr. John Brandt started by dedicating the concert to faculty member Bev Feldkamp. Feldkamp, who is in her 38th year at Valley and was instrumental in organizing the concert as chair of the 40th anniversary committee, was recently diagnosed with an inoperable type of cancer. “It’s a sobering thing to think about,” Brandt said. “If Bev was here sitting with you, she would be getting hope and inspiration from this concert. I hope you will as well.”
Brandt emphasized why Valley is an important foundation for those that attend. “We want our students to make an impact on this world,” he said. “And to make an impact on the community.”
