Volunteers are an important part of our success at Valley Lutheran High School. Whether it is volunteering to help a student who struggles in the classroom, assisting at athletic contests, or helping to run a fundraising project, your gift of time and energy help to make Valley Lutheran a better place. Among our volunteer opportunities:
Student Support Services
Contact: Natalie Keup, nkeup@vlhs.com
Often students need just a little one-on-one help to find success. Helping a student complete homework can make all the difference in the world.
Game Assistance & Field Maintenance
Contact: Tyler Yahn, tyahn@vlhs.com
Taking tickets, selling concessions, keeping score or announcing are some of the ways that you can help. If you like being outdoors and getting fields ready for play, this may also be for you. It is a great opportunity to get to know people who are doing a good thing.
Golf Outing
Contact: Kyle DeWees, kdewees@vlhs.com
The annual Golf Outing is played each September. Volunteers are needed for the steering committee to help with event organization, publicity, sponsor solicitation and events during the outing.
School Store
Contact: the school office
This is the perfect volunteer opportunity for parents who pick up their kids after school. Help is needed 2:45-3:45 p.m. each day. You can help one day a week, one day a month or every day, if you would like. It is a chance to get to know the kids at school.
Parent Organization Projects
Contact: Lisa Meyers, lmeyers@vlhs.com
Each year, the Parent Organization hosts several major events to earn the money to meet their goals, including the Mum Sale, the Fall Bazaar and Luncheon (November), and the Saginaw County Antiques Society Show and Luncheon (April). Contact: Paul Eschmann, peschmann@vlhs.com
The Music Department is grateful for volunteers who are willing to help with various needs that arise throughout the school year. These could include aspects of planning for the yearly Lenten tour, the organization of afterglow events, or others.
Building and Grounds
Contact: Kyle DeWees, kdewees@vlhs.com
Volunteers are always welcome to help maintain our buildings and grounds. Help is needed outside maintaining our landscape and mowing grass. We also can use individuals with specialized skills like plumbing, electrical work and basic construction.
